Cloaked is a roguelike that I've been working on for a few months now. It currently revolves around the idea of getting better swords to fight stronger enemies which both scale heavily. It's still very early on in progress and is just a little passion project of mine.

Expect heavy bugs because the game is in very early pre-alpha/prototype. If you die there will be an error screen so be expecting that. Please let me know of any other bugs besides that.

To start the  game press N, put in any port, and then the game will begin, be sure to pick up a sword. At the current time the game supports a glitchy version of local multiplayer and online multiplayer which is still being worked on. To use online multiplayer make sure to put in your friend's public IP, to use local multiplayer leave the multiplayer IP slot to default.

Controls:

WASD - to move around.

QE - spells which are unique to every sword.

numpad0 - force skip level.

numpad1 - give 100 gold.

Credit:

Friendly Cosmonaut - amazing youtube tutorials that helped me get started.

Heartbeast  - more great tutorials and drew the sprites for the main characters and walls, also created the random dungeon generator Cloaked uses.

0x72 - for a ton of wonderfully drawn pixel art.

GMnet - multiplayer which is still a WIP.

Testers - thanks to the testers E_liar, Chunky Soup, JubNib, NoahW, and Mr. Valentine, for helping out in the long tedious testing process.

So excited for the future this game holds

Thank you! I've got a lot of passion for this, so I'm sure I'll be working on it far into the future.

This is a good start! Some things to consider:

  • The user is being forced to move and fire with the same hand, making it difficult to evade AND aim AND fire. move some of your funtionality to the right hand and the thumbs. Space bar would be good for firing, because both hands can reach it, and maybe left/right arrow or bracket keys to rotate the direction of the sword for aiming. This allows for movement/evasion, aiming, and firing to all be done together.
  • Upon death, game hangs. Provide a re-spawn (either automatically or manually) or maybe multiple lives?
  • Your enemies are FAST, this is good as the user advances to make the game more challenging, but maybe slow them down for the first few levels to give the user a chance to acclimate to the controls and the game overall. Otherwise, you may demoralize the user too quickly.

Keep it up! Looking forward to the next version

Thank you so much for the  comment! I will definitely work on these for the next version of cloaked. Right now I'm pretty busy coming up with ideas for mini jam 89, but once that's done I'll get to work on all the suggestions you've made here.
